automaton that are designed to move like humans have thus far tend to be middling poor imitations of us . They move slowly , coggle like a well - set up panna cotta , and fall over on contact with the floor .

That ’s not to sabotage the technical achievement behind them . It ’s phenomenal that robots can even take the air at all , even in their still ungainly robotic manner .

Take for example Boston Dynamics ' bipedal   robot , first developed in 2013 . It ’s the robot you have get word in endless gifs over the last few age , always being push around by its cruel human master or falling all over the place as it attempts to stack shelf .

It was a   phenomenal achievement in robotics , but was unstable to say the least .

Now , however , the Boston Dynamics team have created an updated version of the automaton that ’s so unbelievable , everyone is jest that we ’re about to be killed in a robot Revelation .   The latest version ofAtlasseems to have skipped walk altogether and displace onto complex backflips .

It ’s so precise , we ’re not sure how much citizenry are overdo their fears when they receive our fresh robot overlords .

Simply put , " we dead " .

The bipedal bot is much in force than you will ever be at gymnastics . It is   electrically and hydraulically powered , and can leap from box to box with unbelievable gracility and precision   – the likes of which we ’ve never see from a humanoid golem .

As many citizenry have been joking , if it ever cast this   sleight   into killing all human beings , it may well be the close of us .

It ’s a phenomenal technical accomplishment from the squad . create robots that move like human race is extremely difficult to achieve   – it ’s why most golem you see incline to be on wheels , have four peg , or else move fantastically slowly .

Practical applications for the bipedal robots ( before they rise up against us ) could see them used in   rescue endeavor where it ’s not safe for humans to enter and where a wheeled robot ca n’t   access , e.g.   a collapsing construction . There is no practical cause why the robot would demand to backflip its way of life at bottom , other than to harbor the people being rescue .

As if the looming golem apocalypse was n’t entertaining enough , Boston Dynamics also recently released a television of their lovely automaton " detent " named   Spot .

When the uprising inevitably materialize , at least it ’ll be fun to watch .
