One ofTony Goldwyn’s favorite things aboutLaw & Orderis the plethora of guest stars he gets to work with — and he’s still holding out for one person, in particular.

“Kerry Washingtonbetter show up at some point or another,” Goldwyn, 64, tells PEOPLE ofhis beloved friend andScandalcostar. “I keep bugging her about it. We’ll see if I can talk her into it.”

When asked what’s taking the reunion so long to happen, Goldwyn laughs and says: “I don’t know!”

“But she’s just teasing me. I’ve got to come up with the right role for her,” he says. “And she does have three children in Los Angeles, and she has a rather busy career. So it might be tough.”

As for guest stars whohavemade an appearance onLaw & Order, Goldwyn’s real-life daughter, Tess, played his daughter in the season 23 finale in November.

“Fingers crossed Carrie Baxter will make an appearance again!” Goldwyn says of his hopes to have his daughter reprise her role. “She did a great job and we had a blast doing it. It was really fun.”

In the wake of the finale last season, Baxter and his wife ultimately split. Goldwyn now gets the chance to act opposite Maggie Siff on the Thursday, March 13 episode when she joins as Baxter’s new flame Kate Norris.

The relationship is immediately complicated, however, when Norris — a defense attorney — takes the case of a murder suspect that Baxter’s office is prosecuting. The ensuing tension strains things not only between the new couple but also among the attorneys in Baxter’s office.

“Last year when you met my wife and daughter and they were very much a part of the case, and the case was the problem in our relationship — similarly with Maggie’s character,” says Goldwyn. “And it puts [ADA] Nolan Price in a tough spot, and so that impacts that relationship. [The writers] really make an effort to give the audience some more texture and dimension of the people.”

And, while he waits for Washington, 48, to free up her schedule, Goldwyn remains optimistic about his character’s new romance.

“I thought [Maggie and I] had good chemistry, so we’ll see!” he says.
