A while back , Google made the bluff decisionto block censoring search results in China . As a consequence of this action , the company is now a little bit queasy about its future in the land :

We currently automatically airt everyone using Google.cn to Google.com.hk , our Hong Kong hunting engine . This redirect , which offers unfiltered search in simplified Chinese , has been working well for our users and for Google . However , it ’s light from conversations we have had with Taiwanese government officials that they chance the redirect unacceptable - and that if we continue redirect drug user our net Content Provider license will not be renewed ( it ’s up for reclamation on June 30 ) . Without an ICP license , we ca n’t work a commercial site like Google.cn - so Google would in effect go dark in China .

so as to satisfy the Taiwanese regime , Google will close down this redirect and institutionalize user to a “ landing pageboy on Google.cn that liaison to Google.com.hk - where user can conduct web lookup or continue to utilise Google.cn services like medicine and text translate , which [ Google ] can offer topically without filter out . ”
It ’s a compromise , but at least Google is managing to delay in the country and continue providing some uncensored hunting results to the residents . [ Google ]
