TheNational Park Service(NPS ) is offeringfree entryto all of its 408 parks today ( August 25 ) , to celebrate its 99th natal day .

“ The National Park Service ’s 99th natal day is an opportunity to reflect on and keep the function of national green in the American story , ” said NPS Director , Jonathan B Jarvis . “ It ’s also a clip to look before to our centennial year , and the next 100 years . These internal treasures belong to to all of us , and we want everyone – specially the next generation of park visitors , supporters and counselor-at-law – to discover and connect with their internal parks . ”
On August 25 , 1916 , President Woodrow Wilson sign legislation to produce the NPS , which is responsible for the preservation of 408 sites – ranging from internal parks and shores , to historical arena – across the U.S.
In preparation for its 100 year anniversary , the NPS has teamed up withFind Your Parkto create99 shipway To Find Your Park , which includes a wide range of a function of activities across all website .

The National Park Service has waived launching fee nine solar day already in 2015 and , as well as today , there are two more opportunities to visit the parks for liberal : September 26 for National Public Lands twenty-four hours , and November 11 in honor of Veterans Day .
