There have been a number of new developments in the haggle over the motion-picture show right to Daredevil and Fantastic Four — but the most interesting consequence , by far , is the notion that Marvel could regain the right wing to Galactus , devourer of worlds . In a nutshell , here ’s what ’s going on , according toVariety : Fox currently possess the motion picture rights to Daredevil and the Fantastic Four , along with the disco biscuit - hands . Fox has to go take a temerarious motion picture by Oct. 10 , or the rightfield revert back to Marvel . There ’s basically no agency Fox can make that deadline — but Fox is excited about its novel take on Daredevil : a noir , urban version ground intimately on the Frank Miller comics , with Joe Carnahan ( The Grey ) signed up to direct .
So for Fox to make its film , the studio postulate Marvel to agree to give it more time . So the two studio apartment are in talks , and one possible result is that Marvel could agree to a co - financing agreement , giving Marvel a stake in this gritty raw Daredevil moving-picture show . But another possible compromise is that Fox could give back the rights to Galactus and the Silver Surver , who are part of the Fantastic Four rights that Fox presently hold . accord to Variety , Marvel really need to practice those two grapheme in one of its upcoming moving-picture show , but Fox wants to carry onto them as well .
So depend on how safe Marvel ’s negotiators are — and how desperate Fox is to make its temerarious film — we could be seeing Galactus turn up in Avengers 3 . That would be pretty awesome , no ? As long as he ’s not just some ho-hum swarm this metre .
Update : Deadlinehas weighed in on this tale , saying that Fox is in no hurry to give away Galactus , who ’s a “ cornerstone ” villain for the Fantastic Four . And Deadline claims Fox is “ tepid ” about Carnahan ’s take on Daredevil , and in all probability will just lease the rights revert to Marvel unless Marvel wants to extend them in exchange for co - funding . ( frankly , I would take both the Variety and Deadline clause with a grain of salt at this dot — there are probably a turn of players affect here , each eager to get their own whirl out .
