The glory of love is alive and well in the mankind of Cobra Kai . After a long delay where the show went fromYouTube to Netflixandbecame a fan favoriteall over again , the first prevue for the highly anticipated third time of year is here . And in it , we see the take of two intimate faces from a certain outside sequel .
Yes , Cobra Kai season three sees Daniel LaRusso ( Ralph Macchio ) back in Okinawa , Japan — and now we know he ’ll play up with his former flame Kumiko ( Tamlyn Tomita ) and rival Chozen ( Yuji Okumoto ) on the trip . It ’s The Karate Kid Part II all over again and we ca n’t wait !
Oh also , Miguel ( Xolo Maridueña ) is trying to recover , Johnny ( William Zabka ) has lost Cobra Kai to Kreese ( Martin Kove ) , and is Robbie ( Tanner Buchanan ) in jail ? There ’s much go on here . Check it out .

We here at io9have been champions of Cobra Kaisince it first aired , but in late months , Jill has recite me some people have asked her “ Why is io9 covering Cobra Kai?That ’s not sci - fi ! ” Which , true , is a fair full point . But anyone who get it on the poppycock we love here — Star Wars , Doctor Who , Steven Universe — all manner of smart , complex , sometimes cheesy popping culture is plausibly a devotee of The Karate Kid . It ’s all those things and more , just without the spaceships . Plus watching Cobra Kai redeem such immense dose of nostalgia . Take all those thing together , and take into bill its noteworthy overall quality , and you set about to get why I push really hard to flex the principle a bit and get the word out there .
Plus , let ’s be honest . It feels more like fantasy than world that the showhas been this goodfor three seasons and counting . There ’s catch ta be some charming dust on it somewhere . It ’s almost too good to be rightful .
That journeying continues on January 8 when time of year three introduction on Netflix , and time of year four is already in the oeuvre .
