On / Off should always be in the same blot right on top with some variety of standard button layout a la Harmony , or layout could diagrammatically mimic the twist I need to master for a more intuitive system with less meter reading . Want to turn on the shower ? Then just twist the on - screenland knob . Turning off the brightness level ? Just jerk the switch .
• propinquity detection could automatically pick up local “ favorite ” items for me to control . That way I ’m not research through menus all the time .
• Trigger activated voice recognition is a must for the most simple dictation . Just like I ’m calling in for an air strike , I could walkie - talking picture “ teapot on ! ”
• evidently consumer electronics maker would demand to decide on some standards . But they can have a choice : IR , 802.11n and Bluetooth will all be in my trivial remote control . really , no . Screw IR . We ’re officially in the future and I never desire to worry about strain of internet site again … we’ll keep it for backward compatibility .
